a military grade modular setup consisting of four user interface components:
two retro chique workstation displays and two input modules. one module using a record player for bulk data input, the other a pen-based interface for seamless deconstruction and recombination of the input material. all this powered by a hidden personal computer seemingly the main obstacle in marketing this as the next generation dj working environment. a game for a single person and an audience. a scientific setup for the visitor to explore the structure and working mechanisms of contemporary music. anything else? we don't know.
eine militär audio workstation bestehend aus zwei monochromen bildschirmen und zwei eingabegeräten:
links ein plattenspieler, über den man beliebiges soundmaterial aufzeichnen und auf vierundzwanzig samplespeicher legen kann. rechts davon ein modifizierter plattenspieler. hier werden die zuvor aufgezeichneten soundfiles über ein grafiktablet neu kombiniert und arrangiert. das ganze wird von einem pc im hintergrund gesteuert. ein spielzeug für eine person und zuhörer. ein wissenschaftliches setup für besucher, um die strukturen und mechanismen zeitgenössischer musik zu erforschen. nochwas? wir wissen es nicht.

the left screen allows for random access of 24 samples, which are permanently stored in the system. by selecting the record button, any sample can be replaced by the input signal from the record player. the arrow-shaped icons can be used for pitching the samples up and down.

the icons on the right screen are controlling four different audio tracks at the same time, which are symbolized as four rotating discs in the middle. the icons in the top row select time and sequence of the samples. the second row allow for activation of ten preprogrammed classic house beats for instant gratification.
